Is it really private?

Yes. No database, no accounts, no server logs. History lives only in your browser. See the Privacy model.

Which model does it use?

Xiaomi MiMo (mimo-v2.5-pro) by default, swappable via env. See Models & providers.

Can I use my own model?

Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint works, including a self-hosted LiteLLM proxy or a local model.

Does it cost anything?

OpenThena itself is free and MIT-licensed. You pay only for whatever model provider you point it at.
